A Zing for the Cracker Barrel, Route 133, Tewksbury, MA
I decided to try this restaurant for lunch (mom hasn't been out for a
while and this would be a treat for her). We arrived early (11:30AM) and
waited for 10 minutes for a table because there was no one to seat us
when we arrived. We placed our order and waited 40 minutes for
sandwiches. Mom ordered the Haddock Sandwich. It arrived sitting on top
of a hamburger bun and a tell you the piece of fish was the size of a
cracker. It was so embarrassing I didn't know what to say. There was no
condiments offered with the sandwich (we have to ask for tartar sauce
and that took 10 minute to arrive.

Food is always great. Burgers, steak tips, you name it. Service is great
and the prices are right. Known to be "The Cheers of Peabody."
Say hi to Joe and Jimmy, tell them Billy sent you.

Neat place inside, but like any new restaurant, they need to get the
kinks out. The house-made potato chips are addicting. Very good snack as
you wait. I ordered the filet mignon sandwich medium-rare. It resembled
pot roast on a brick hard piece of foccacia bread. The fries would have
been great if they were hot. $27.00 including tip was too pricey for a
not-so-quick lunch downtown. Give them 6 months to work things out and
it will probably be great. Seafood did look very fresh, but the servers
need to go to oyster shucking school. I wouldn't want to wait for 12
oysters to be delivered!

Just fantastic especially if you're a lobster nut. Cooked to perfection
and absolutely no mess. My husband had the Cutlet, which is always
super. Service great. Ralph and his wife are there and tended to us so
graciously. The food never disappoints you.

I can't say enough about this restaurant. I have been there a number of
times alone and with friends, and have never had a bad meal. The menu is
primarily Italian, and the food is outstanding. My favorite appetizer is
the carpaccio. I have a friend who always orders the veal. Service is
wonderful. Attentive, not rushed, and nor forgotten. Atmosphere is
comfortable, a bit noisy, but not distracting. Excellent night out.

I. The service, food and atmosphere all rate a 10. My husband enjoyed
the Steak and I really enjoyed the boullibase. The wine list is
extensive with many moderately priced wines. We discovered a real gem in
a large shopping mall.

Fine dining is not what you'll get here! For $18.50 you can get a thin
flimsy piece of steak, instant mashed potatoes and what appears to be a
mixture of canned vegetables. Forget about buying drinks if you're on a
budget. For $11.00 you can have a Heinekin and a shot of Absolute Citron
with Sprite. ($4.25 for the beer) The service is excellent, the staff is
friendly and attentive, it's the kitchen that needs an over-haul. Tips
for the chef: 1. Do NOT microwave the pre-dinner bread 2. Do NOT serve
instant mashed potatoes 3. Do NOT run out of the least expensive entree
before 5pm on a Monday night (FYI, squash ravioli is $12.50) 4. Please
do not over-cook the meat Next time I'll stick with a local restaurant
on my way home from the movie.

A Zing for Something Different (at the Beverly Airport) Beverly,
MA Here's a place to avoid if at all possible. From the service to the
food and it's presentation! We recently visited this place for breakfast
and what a nightmare. The food looked like it was slopped on the plate
and was swimming in grease, homefries were burnt, hollandaise sauce a
poor imitation. The waitress was also serving as hostess/busperson and
it was apparent that she was totally inexperienced in the restaurant
field. Dirty dishes stayed on the table, juices served in hot glasses,
etc.

comfortable atmosphere with extra ordinary Italian cuisine, this is THE
place! Enjoy a bottle of wine and fresh pasta, warm bread dipped in

dessert! MMMMMMM! An Outstanding choice for the entire family!

Jimmy's is the best place to go and get almost any food imaginable. Last
night I only wanted a sandwich, so I went to Jimmy's to order a Steak
Bomb Sub. Once again they out did themselves. The sandwich was big
enough to share with another person. This sandwich contained steak,
mushrooms, onions, peppers, salami and provolone cheese. It was
absolutely delicious. The food is always good, the price of the food is
affordable and the service is superb. I would highly recommend Jimmy's
for your dining pleasure today. Go in and say hello to Jimmy and George,
they'll always treat you right.

Best Italian food we've ever had! All varieties of pasta, chicken, veal,
seafood, calzone, salads and subs are offered in their menu. North-end
atmosphere, friendly service, & open kitchen to see your meals
actually being cooked by the owners of the restaurant! Extremely
reasonable prices & huge portions to give you leftovers for the next
day. We've never had anything there we didn't enjoy & the menu is so
big, we order something different every time. Take-out is just as
wonderful & deliveries have never been more than a half hour. Would
recommend to anyone & everyone!

Appetizer; Lobster and Brie Ravioli with roasted grapes in a caramelized
onion sauce. Fabulous! Entree; Pistachio Crusted Salmon Filet with
Japanese soba noodles and sweet chili mirin. Perfect! Dessert; Warm
Chocolate Truffle Torte with raspberry coulis Wow! My only critic was
there wasn't enough raspberry coulis on my plate. I found myself licking
my plate with my finger to get every last bit of it. Nice wine list with
reasonable prices. Also a great wine bar upstairs! Can't wait to go
back. Yummy!!

A Praise for Odessa, Route 1, Foxboro, MA
Odessa on route 1 in Foxboro, close to the stadium is an unforgettable
international dining experience. The restaurant specializes in Russian
cuisine and serves other international dishes. The wild mushroom ravioli
appetizer is divine, a light pastry shell filled with exotic mushrooms
and a light cheese filling. Try the mushroom and barley soup-just like
your grandmother would make. Entrees range from a quality cut of Steak
au Poivre to duck. Decor leaves a bit to be desired, but the live
Russian band on Fri and Sat. after 8pm is great. Service is excellent.
Wonderful selection of Russian wines and vodka.

I was amazed at the atmosphere at the Porto Bello Restaurant, under new
management. The food and portions were outstanding, price wise very
affordable. The restaurant is nicely decorate and brings out two
cultures Italian and Portuguese. This is definitely a restaurant worth
while checking out. The Proprietor has done an outstanding job upscaling
this restaurant, it's a place just waiting to be discovered by many
others. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some great
food and music.

A Praise for Brody's Pub, Lowell St., Peabody, MA It never ceases
to amaze me that Brody's is never mentioned on the radio or in dining
web sites. My husband and I have been a regular there for years and have
NEVER once been disappointed. Its a small no fuss no muss restaurant
with a strong neighborhood feel. The service is quick and efficient so
don't expect to dawdle and linger i. e. no dessert and coffee available.
BUT the food is excellent and cheap! Try steak and lamb tips, portabello
mushroom appetizer or sandwich, grilled veggies and chicken over rice,
and my favorite, their huge Greek salad with delicious dressing and
pita. Your gonna love it!

The Taste Buds Retired Lunch Bunch did lunch at Hingham Bay Club. We
found it to be a tad expensive for lunch, but the food was delicious so
we felt it was worth the price. Lobster bisque was thick and tasty
served with toast points and garnished with chives. Onion soup was
perfection. Sautéed Shrimp was a bit of a disappointment because they
were cooked a tad too long, but the stuffing was yummy. The squash was
wonderful (we thought there was a hint of maple syrup). Based stuffed 1
1/2 pound (full lobster) was a tad overcooked, but again the stuffing
was full of tender scallops and the lobster so full so the slight
overcooked could be forgiven. Stuffing was quite different from the
ordinary bread crumb mixture. Ordinary rolls and butter were served
(with all the wonderful breads available, ordinary rolls could be
replaced). Service was fast and pleasant. It was noted on the way to the
restaurant that greatest Fenway "push cart" people were open
on Wollaston Beach. They will be missed at the ballpark, but our gain to
have them so close to home. We are planning our next lunch adventure on
the Wollaston boardwalk.

A Zing for Dolphin Seafood of Natick, Natick, MA Consistently is
generally a virtue but not when a restaurant is consistently
disappointing. The consistently tepid clam chowder is but one example.
The restaurant also consistently underestimates the wait for a table. At
a recent visit, an estimated 35-minute wait turned out to be well over
twice that time before we finally left.

If bad service is given an award this would be the gold metal winner.
Our server couldn't have be more rude. My husband and I waited 15
minutes just for her to greet us. It took another 15 minutes to get our
drinks and place our order. Then we didn't get our meals for another
hour. We couldn't figure out why this was as there were only 5 other
people in the restaurant. When the food came it was ice cold, and when
we asked for her to reheat it we were told to hold on a minute while she
took another table's order. Also, it seems like the staff was to busy
talking to each other to service any customer needs.

A Zing for Joe Fish, Route 125, North Andover, MA
The food was very good. Tasty and different. Portions were more than
ample. But the service was very poor indeed. The waitress was
exceedingly disinterested in us, taking way too long to take our order,
bring our food, tend to us in any way at all. It took so long to get the
check that I had to go to the bar and give it to her. The busboy did a
good job filing in for her deficiencies. The poor service spoiled an
otherwise enjoyable meal. The manager on duty did not seem to care too
much when I told him about it either.

A Zing for Summer Shack, Fresh Pond, Cambridge, MA
I wanted to love the Summer Shack. Creator and Co-owner, Jasper White,
has been an idol of mine for years. The place is touted as a family
oriented dining experience. Location and parking are excellent.
Atmosphere is fun, a little loud, and the staff behind the large steam
kettles filled with lobsters and corn were amiable. Paper tablecloths
and crayons kept the kids amused. So far, so good... I ordered
half-dozen littleneck clams to start. They were fresh and frosty
--served with cocktail sauce, horseradish and wasabi. It was downhill
after this. For my entree, I was intrigued by the "wood
grilled" fish served with a "sauce that would go well with the
fish". I ordered Boston Scrod. When it arrived, I was SO
disappointed. It looked and tasted steamed. The sauce was a repulsive
red color that had a foul taste. The fish was topped with breadcrumbs
that had no flavor at all. In order to eat it, I covered the fish with
salt and tobacco sauce...yuck! My husband ordered "award
winning" fried chicken. Three-quarters of the chicken was a
tasteless batter. The chicken, once you got to it, was moist and tasty,
but the effort was hardly worth it. There is no children's menu. I
ordered a four-dollar hot dog and a macaroni and cheese side dish for my
boys. The hot dog was good, but the macaroni was tepid and bland, with
what seemed like the same bread topping as was on my scrod. My husband
was dismayed to find that his chicken did not come with fries, so we
ordered them as a side. They were excellent. My mother-in-law ordered a
steamed lobster, which she enjoyed. I hope Jasper White pulls things
together, because the Summer Shack has a lot of potential...and I REALLY
liked those littlenecks!

On my way home for the cape we stopped at this family restaurant. What a
great choice in service, price and quality of food. The portions are
great and this is a truly home cooked restaurant. The freshest fish and
the Grilled Chicken Sandwich is outstanding and truly a bargain. Try it,
it's outstanding with food and friendly service.

I went to this restaurant and ordered pizza, lasagna, and an eggplant
sub, with 3 cokes which you fill yourself like at a fast food place, I
received the order timely and reasonably well priced, But after
refilling my 10 oz coke I was told that I had to pay another dollar, no
sign stating "no free refills" she just waited till I was done
refilling then sprang it on me that it would cost again. sneaky tactics
in my opinion. Never going back again, too bad!!!!

Went there for lunch last Sunday. It's set up to look like your at a
beach resort but it doesn't quite make it. I had fish cakes and
beans.... basic fare. Food was cold, beans unrecognizable. My wife had a
grossly over-priced lobster roll that had instead of chopped celery,
chopped cucumber. I won't return in a hurry.

What a GEM this place is, just opened one week friends took us there
tonight to celebrate my birthday. The decor, the quality of the food,
and the service was all WONDERFUL. Three of us had the ORANGE BASIL
CHICKEN, it melted in your mouth. The BAKED SCROD was fresh and well
prepared, can't wait to go back to this charming place. Debated about
sharing it with you because I know it will be a big hit with the public,
but could not keep this place to myself. ENJOY

A Zing for Loafers, 43 Pelham Road, Salem, NH
Four of us decided to try Loafers for my 40th birthday. We arrived at
7:30 and were sat right away. We ordered by 7:45. At 9:30 we asked if we
could have our salads and were told they are not ready. We are busy!
Finally we got our salads at 9:45. Very boring and non-descript salads.
At 10:15we asked about our meals for the third time and were told again,
We are busy, and they are not ready! Finally we realized at about 10:40,
we weren't getting meals! We asked the waiter, the hostess and the
owner. The owner said, how would I know, I don't work the kitchen! The
hostess chased us out telling us to keep our comments to ourselves. We
didn't even mind the food issue, it was the complete rudeness and lack
of interest in our problem. Good Luck loafers!
